Lumbini, in the Terai plains of Nepal is the birthplace of the Lord Buddha and is considered as one of the greatest pilgrimage sites for Buddhists. It had been declared a UNESCO heritage and the site is now being developed as a Buddhist pilgrimage centre, where the archaeological remains associated with the birth of the Lord Buddha form the central feature.
To give us an insight into what Lumbini was, is & will be, we have the privilege of having with us Dr. Basanta Bidari, retired Chief Archaeologist to share with us his work and experiences working the past 30 years at this sacred place.
