A photography exhibition offers a rare glimpse of the lives of forest monks.
VENERABLE Ajahn Cagino, 43, lives in a cave with two snakes and eight bats. The cave is 2km from the nearest village in Mae Hong Son in northern Thailand. Nestled in a deep valley hemmed in by high mountain ranges that border Myanmar, Mae Hong Son is isolated from the outside world and is covered with mist throughout the year. Read more...

An Eventful Wesak 2011

Wesak was celebrated on 17 May 2011 in Setia Alam.
It is a day which marks 3 momentous events in the life of Gautama Buddha; birth, enlightenment and passing away to parinirvana on a full moon day of the 6th lunar month (May).

Light was used as a symbol to remind that Buddha showed people the way to become enlightened.

Bathing the Buddha is a symbol of inner purification.

Nurses and doctors arrived early at the Community Hall in Impian 4 to serve the community who were willing to donate their blood to save lives.

Volunteers put up posters depicting the 'Life of the Buddha' both in English and in Chinese for the understanding of  all.

Devotees listening deeply to chants by monks.

Volunteers spent time and effort to cook delicious food to raise fund for the Setia Alam Sambodhi Buddhist Association.

Some who are good at handicraft made beautiful bangles and spectacle chains also for fund raising purpose.

Dhamma books both in English and Chinese were made available for free distribution on Wesak Day.

The above are just a few snapshots on Wesak Day 2011 in Setia Alam.

May You be Well & Happy!

Chinese New Year Blessing

The Setia Alam Buddhist Association Selangor has organized a Chinese New Year Blessing in Setia Alam today.

Ven B. Sri Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera from Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple being led by the president of the association; Bro Goh Seng Chai.

We were fortunate to be able to offer Dana to 23 monks.

Requisites were wrapped up meticulously for each and every monk by devotees.

Blessing and Chanting...

All were well entertained by the Lion Dance....from the young to the young at heart.

Do you notice the affection and metta generated toward all beings, including 'lions'?

Abundant of Dhamma books were made available to the residents who attended the blessing service.

Are they potential Sunday Dhamma School children?
